The Maistra's Bookshelf

The library in the Maistra 160

Books have a permanent place at Hotel Maistra. The lovingly curated library is home to around 900 titles and is a source of inspiration.

Here, guests of the Hotel Maistra can learn about all facets of the Engadine, its side valleys and neighboring regions. A lot of space is given to poets, artists, and painters who have discovered the unique high valley for themselves over the last 150 years. The library also contains all of the novels that have been written up here, inspired by the Engadine, or written by people for whom the Alpine landscape has become a place of refuge.

Here you can immerse yourself in Graubünden women’s literature, the history of the hotel industry, the rich architecture and agriculture of Graubünden. The books give an insight into the emigration and return of the confectioners, the development of Alpine cuisine, the world of the monasteries, and the fates of the Graubünden mercenaries and mule drivers.

We also present new and selected works by important international authors and exciting writers.

The library also hosts book presentations and readings. The curated selection is regularly stocked with new books, providing variety and surprising reading pleasure. A selection of our recommendations is available for you in your room or on our “book trolley.” Books can also be purchased in the Maistra Concept Store, based on the current thematic focus.
